About
I live in Vermont and am 42, which sounds much older than I feel! I, like many people, am defined by my roles in life. I am a mother. I have one daughter, lil moonspun. She is 8 years old. She is strong in personality, vivacious, opionated and creative. She is gorgeous in both spirit and her physical being. I also have two stepdaughters, Lil RP#1, who is 9 and Lil RP#2, who is 2 years old. They, like their dad, have bubbly, enthusiastic personalities.
I am also wife, friend and lover to Running Professor (RP). He is a wonderful man and an incredible mix of physicality and intellectual abilities. You can tell by his moniker that he is a professor and a runner. He’s one of the crazy runners who runs in races from lengths of 5k to 100 miles ultra-runs. I adore who he is: he’s funny, quirky and his quiet drive and commitment to make the world a better place is something I admire greatly. He works too hard, but loves what he does and has compassion at a level I’ve ever encountered. He is the only person I’ve ever let near me when I am angry or upset. Ever.
I co-parent lil moonspun with FFO (former female other). FFO was my ‘wife’ for 13 years. She is quirky and good-hearted, but hasn’t quite found her place in life yet and I wouldn’t be surprised if she never did. Lil moonspun spends her time alternating weeks between FFO and myself, we split her half time. We were never oficially civil-unioned or married so we have a verbal agreement/understanding.
We are also both flexible with schedules and have a good working relationship. FFO, lil moonspun and I can still spend time together and enjoy each other’s company. I feel proud of this and I think it makes a big difference for lil moonspun. My parents still maintain a good relationship with FFO as well.
I feel as if I live a normal life, but on the other hand much about my life isn’t normal. Lil moonspun’s parents are two moms. She’s got a stepdad now and a long list of family and friends and people she considers family who care about her. I find myself explaining alot. Even more so now than when FFO and I were still together. I expect people to be surprised that I spent 13 years with a woman and now have a husband. It doesn’t bother me, but it does get exhausting sometimes. I don’t always want to explain or have my life be a source of curiosity.
I am not an in-your-face kind of person about my personal life, and never have been. I respect others opinions and their right to have them. Yet I am unapologetic about the choices I have made personally. They are my choices.
I also love to read, write and scrapbook. They all keep my mind and creative juices flowing. I love pictures of loved ones and cover my home walls and my office desk with them. I love candid pictures that show pure, unforced happiness.
I have been running for a year and a half. The jury is still out if I like it or not. I’ve run a total of four 5K races, which was, for me, quite an accomplishment. I also ran a half-marathon as a relay with a cousin, my leg was 6.4 miles. In each race I reached my goals which were to finish and run the entire time. RP ran with me during for the 5k’s encouraging me all the way.
I also love to swim and mountain bike. We are blessed with great trails around our home and area for biking, hiking or strolling and we make good use of them.
I also love to read decorating magazines, especially Cottage Living. I love HGTV! I record Myles of Style and Decorating Cents. Lil moonspun and I like to watch them together. As a native Yankee, I try to make the best of what I have, but always want to make my home simple, comfortable and beautiful.
