Happy meme
I’ll admit that due to my week, I am still in the process of catching up on my regular blog reads. This doesn’t feel like a burden…I love to read, I just need to squeeze the time in. So when I read Heather’s post from Tuesday, I realized she’d picked me for an award and meme. Lovely! I was honored, I don’t take being singled out lightly. Thanks, Heather!
Isn’t the award pretty???

Now before I get to the fun part of telling you about my six favorite things, I’ve got a confession. I don’t know what ‘meme’ means! I’ve seen it, done it and yet I wonder. Is it a French word? Does it mean ‘me me’? Can someone help?!
Ok…the fun part….My six favorite things. For today, because I think that if I wrote them last week, this week or next month, they might change.
Reading: I have always loved to read from the time I was very young. There is nothing like losing yourself in a good book and good writing. The best stories are written in a way that makes me think about the characters for a long time. Which like Heather mentioned includes blogs. I read your stuff and I think about you outside of my time on the web.
Writing: I’ve always loved to write as well. I enjoy it. RP thinks I am good at it. There are various types of writing I enjoy. Academic papers (the geeky side of me), blogging (the personal side of me), stories for work/news items, letters and love notes to RP, and ok, a few erotic stories (though I was more prolific with them when I wasn’t getting any sex!). Writing is often a strength for me. More often than not I am more articulate with what comes out of my fingers than my mouth.
Lil moonspun: I love being a mother. For all its challenges, becoming a mom and the last 8+ years have taught me lessons about love, fear, letting go and wanting to be a good example. There is nothing like lil moonspun’s laughter, the smell of her hair after a bath, and the way her hand feels in mine while walking. She is still young enough to want to hold my hand. I’ve got some great pictures of us holding hands from when she was even younger and I cherish them.
Running Professor: For all you loyal readers, I am sure you’d know that I would pick my hubby as one of my favorite things in life. I’ve known him for just about 2 1/2 years, a small percentage of my whole life and he has changed it in bigger ways than anyone else. I live a new life and am becoming a new me because of him. Through him I am finding myself. I have found my soulmate, my best friend and my biggest supporter in him. I love spending time with him whether we are at home or out having an adventure. He challenges me in good ways and he is closer to me than anyone. I’d never let anyone get close to me when I was mad until I met RP. He makes me feel safe, secure and free to be who I am. He loves me for me. How could I not pick him as a favorite?
Friends: As an adult I’ve realized how rare true friends are. I am lucky to have people I consider friends who are also related to me. Friends are those people who you can call at 3 am and they’ll come. Friends are those people who you can not see for a while, but when you do, it’s easy to reconnect. Friends will be honest with you in way others can’t…because you’ll listen to them. Friends make you laugh and cry and give gifts that are immeasurable. I treasure my friends….and hopefully they all know that.
Food: Ah yes, there is much to love about food. I couldn’t pick just one. Would it be bacon? cheese? chocolate chip cookies? shrimp? For me what I love about food is how good food tastes and also the act of cooking and sharing food with good company. Sometimes it seems really sacred. And homey.
Ok….so now….I award the Kretiv Blogging award to: Psycho-Mom, Tattooed Dad, Photomonk, Sus, Mad Woman and Linda…tell us about your favorites!

My Love,
I’m grateful to have made the Final Five cut!! Even after the lentil rice debacle and my perennial problem of remembering to fill the cat/dog water bowl. And my forgetfulness in eating the banana bread in the refrigerator. And my being out of town so many times over the present and future month.
Congratulations on the award! You rock the blogging house…I’d vote for you over Sarah Palin for VP anyday!! Perhaps after we repeal the Constitution’s Twelfth Amendment…
I love you…
